Since 2010, we have led several major campaigns in Australia representing the interests of the Assyrian nation.

Role

The Young Assyrians (TYA) seek to provide a platform through which young people can actively lobby for the human rights of the Assyrian people. Additionally, we provide youth with a platform to both engage with and generate sources of academia to further the literary discourse surrounding the Assyrian plight and oppose sources which seek to mislead and misinform.

Mission

The Young Assyrians aims to motivate and harness the skills of young people in the Assyrian community— both in Australia and globally. Our broader objective is to engage in cross collaborative efforts with various communities to advance the academic and political interests of the Assyrian nation.

This includes and is not limited to; the global recognition of the 1914 genocide, the dismissal of revisionist narratives that seek to deny such atrocities, the call for an Assyrian homeland and the preservation of Assyrian culture, history, identity, and language.

Goals and Objectives

  1. Build a network of motivated and passionate young people willing to volunteer their time and resources to the advancement of the agenda and interests of The Young Assyrians.

  2. Train and equip young people with the necessary skills of leadership that they will require to one day lead their community and advocate for its interests.

  3. To establish connections with and learn from key academics within the literary realm of Assyrian persecution and human rights as well as gain access to their major works, papers, and novels.

  4. Establish and strengthen our relations with members of the Joint Justice Initiative (The Armenian and Greek communities) as well as all our allies.
